words_Brandon Richard When the Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs. Manny Pacquiao bout fell apart earlier this year, skeptics said that a crippling blow was dealt to boxing. However, that tune changed in February when Mayweather signed a contract to fight 38-year old Shane Mosley. Tonight, these two top tier pound-for-pound combatants will step in the ring to face off in one of boxing's all-time most anticipated mega fights. Mayweather steps into the ring with an unblemished 40-0 record, the most significant of his victories coming against Arturo Gatti, Zab Judah, Oscar De La Hoya, Ricky Hatton, and Juan Manuel Lopez. After a rough patch from 2002-2004, Shane Mosley has resurrected his career to be the clear cut #3 pound for pound fighter in the world. He's beaten Oscar De La Hoya twice, Fernando Vargas twice, lost a very controversial decision to Miguel Cotto, and absolutely destroyed Antonio Margarito in his last fight back in January 2009. Experts say that Mosley will be Mayweather's biggest challenge to date, and Mosley agrees. The fight takes place tonight in Las Vegas, Nevada. HBO Pay Per View will kick off their coverage at 9pm EST. Head on over to the forums to discuss this huge bout. via HBO and Grand Rapids Press
