Slick x adidas Artist Collection Preview
The legendary Los Angeles graffiti artist teams with adidas Originals.
words_Nick Engvall As one of the early pioneers in Los Angeles Graffiti, Slick ran with the K2S crew throughout the 80's becoming one of the most recognizable artists behind a spray can on the streets of Southern California. Like most of the early graffiti legends, his career path led him astray of spraying in the streets, to what has become a successful career in other more law-friendly creative outlets. In the early 90's he worked with legendary Los Angeles hip-hop artists like Ice Cube and The Pharcyde. The streetwear industry has always gone hand-in-hand with hip-hop and Slick's career also took that same path and just as he's worked with legendary artist, he's also worked with the best streetwear companies as well. His portfolio is like a black book of A-list collaborators including the likes of Stussy, XLarge and FUCT to name a few. Nowadays his passion for creativity keeps him busy with another streetwear brand, his own Dissizit. With Dissizit, Slick has worked with some other famous sneaker aficionados, including hip-hop group La Coka Nostra, but it has also opened up other new opportunities. The Dissizit brand has been a creative platform that has unveiled to the world one of his other passions that is so often synonymous with streetwear, sneakers. Slick's latest work has teamed him up with adidas as part of their artist series. As part of the pairings Spring 2010 Collection, Slick has reworked a number of adidas Originals pieces. Part of the collection will include two fresh colorways of the Artillery Mid. The first is a classic combination of black, white and red and featuring Slick's famous "nametag." Another version of the Artillery Mid was done up in a combination of blue and yellow. Matching gear in the form of hoodies, windbreakers, and adidas t-shirts will also feature design work from Slick. The Slick x adidas Originals Collection is available at select retailers now.
