Though it wasn't technically included in the NikeTown series of collaborations, the Air Presto hyperstrike released at the Honolulu NikeTown event in May of 2005 unofficially kicked off the lengthy line of Sole Collector collaboration sneakers.

With only 48 pairs available, a line of over fifty people quickly gathered in anticipation of the shoes, with tents perched and sleeping bags geared up several days before the launch. Local news covered the line in detail, and as always, Dominique "DQ" Thomas was first in line. As with all of Sole Collector's events, the model, colorway and theme was totally unknown until the doors opened.

The inspiration behind the Air Presto is fairly easy to decipher, as the relaxing nature of Hawaii's tourist-friendly Waikiki made the comfortable slip-on runner a perfect choice. A sunset fade and palm trees along the toe only further tied them in to the city.
