As Michael Jordan was playing for the Chicago White Sox Triple A team, the Birmingham Barons, it was only right that when the new Air Jordan model released, we get a colorway inspired by them. This colorway is the first in a while to be released ahead of a traditional Chicago Bulls colorway. These are also the only colorway to be released with the extra leather on the toe, which was quickly removed when the second batch was released. MJ strongly disliked this detail and wanted it taken off immediately, so that’s what was done. This colorway was later retroed in 2005 (without the extra toe piece), and, to much appreciation, it sold out on its initial release day.
