The Air Jordan I made its debut in 1985 during Michael Jordan’s rookie season with the Chicago Bulls. This was one of the first colorways to be released and was actually banned from the NBA! Back then shoes were predominantly white and had very little accent color on them. So, due to these being out of code, the league deemed them “too colorful” and banned them. MJ continued to wear them though and was fined $5,000 every game that he wore them which Nike paid. This led to the infamous “Banned” commercials and advertisements that we all love today.
