While it doesn’t seem very advanced by today’s standards, over twenty years ago the Reebok R.A.D. collection (short for Reebok Advanced Design…yes…you say “Reebok” twice in the name) took on a starkly different aesthetic from the other skate shoe offerings of the era. With nubbed toe reinforcements, midfoot and toe straps depending on the cut and also severely durable rubber outsoles, the R.A.D. collection marked a time where skaters were evolving and demanding more protection. Reebok has plans to bring back the set soon this year, with a return to the vibrant colorways and logical material choices like performance meshes and durable leathers.
