PUMA XR Runner “Dia De Los Muertos”

The Day of the Dead (DOTD) is celebrated every year on November 1st and 2nd throughout North America with an emphasis on Mexico, where the celebration originated. Observed more prominently in the latin communities, Dia De Los Muertos is a day of celebration and rememberance of loved ones who have passed away. Those paying their respects celebrate differently but whether it’s decorating the grave or building an altar in one’s home, you find similar items involved including flowers, the deceased’s favorite food, music, candles and friends and loved ones remembering together. There are also festivals held, with parades and dancing in some areas.

PUMA has created a “Dia De Los Muertos” XR runner in commemoration of the celebration. The XR features calacas, skulls and skeletons commonly used in the celebration of Dia De Los Muertos. On this particular shoe we see the skulls placement on the heel and tongue and the repeating skeleton pattern used on the underlay. The colors used on the shoe are congruent with those that you would see at the festivals and celebrations of the dead, they are found on the calacas and crafts made through out Latin America. These are set to hit select PUMA retailers soon.
