Shepard x Kobe x Upper Deck Limited Edition Prints

words by Steve Jaconetta

Laker fans rejoice! For the first time in his illustrious career, Kobe Bryant is your 2008 NBA MVP. In honor of this milestone in NBA history Shepard Fairey (Obey), Kobe, Bryant, and Upper Deck got together to create a unique portrait and capture it forever.

This idea was brought together by Upperdeck and Kobe himself in which he requested the help from Shepard. You might remember him for his work on Kobe’s official site KB24.com where he took part in the design of his official logo. Well this time around, the design inspiration couldn’t get any better. These three took part in creating an iconic piece of art not just for Kobe, but of him as well.

People got their first look at this masterpiece as a near 60-foot version can be seen on the east and west side walls of the Henry Fonda Theater in Hollywood as it looks out on L.A. Two editions of these tradition fine art lithographs were produced, “MVP” and “KOBE”. Measurements are 20″ wide x 30″ high and come framed. They are both limited editions and are all signed by Shepard with a few select editions also signed by Kobe Bryant.

These lithograph’s are truly stunning with the incorporating rich mixture of Laker team colors on French archival paper. If you’re a true fan and want to pay respect to the reigning MVP and own a little piece of history, today’s your lucky day. These were created exclusively for Upper Deck and can be purchased at the Upper Deck Store. Don’t miss this chance as these surely will not last long!
