SOLE COLLECTOR: Sneakers

Well it’s been quite a long stretch since our last issue hit — over four months to be exact. Normally, each year we take a good 2 month break after the annual Jordan Issue, as it takes literally everything out of us. This time, with the XX3 Issue topping 220 pages, our biggest issue ever, our 2 month break felt well deserved.

In that time we didn’t just coast though, we worked ahead on Issue 23, took trips to the East Coast and San Diego, twice, each, and have also been at it with countless side projects as well as the launch of our website. (Which seems to be keeping me up at all times of the day, daily.) Our 3-week Road Trip throughout East & Midwest America during the middle of it all was nothing short of an adventure.

So while it seems like forever ago that you may have received your last edition, our next addition to the series will be dropping in a little more than a week. It’s been three years (3 years!) since our last Nike SB feature, and so we went back to the depths of the Mia Hamm building and chatted it up with some good folks to see where they’re headed, what’s in store, and why in the hell they made a Dunk out of Sandy Bodecker’s old pink feathered pillow. Included in the story is EVERY Dunk SB. Ever. We also were able to shoot some pretty sweet samples that never made it out of Beaverton.

I took a back seat on this issue, and Mikey Andersen put in crazy work on the SB cover story. We also have features on some sweet upcoming stuff from PUMA, an extensive spread on the Zoom Soldier II, and Focus pieces on customizing prodigy C2 and the Jordan-wearing, friend-but-school-rival, Patrick Christopher of the Cal Bears Hoops squad.
