Here is Nike’s 2009 NBA All Star Air Force 1. For the last few years Nike has been releasing special edition sneakers that started out as very limited and not even being sold to the public. Then, they began to release them in the city that the game took place in. This year’s NBA All Star Game is taking place in Phoenix, AZ, hence the choice of colors for this limited run sneaker. With design duties taken away from Nike employees and passed on to “official” Air Force 1 overseer DJ Clark Kent ,we get a sneaker that looks like it was designed at the ID studio. The upper features a light grey/off white nubuck and a purple patent leather heel. Yellow appears on the swoosh, mid-panel piping, heel tab and tongue tag while orange takes its place on the leather midsole and sockliner. An embroidered purple 09 is located on the lateral front overlay of each sneaker.
An interesting feature of this sneaker release comes from the laces and lace locks. Nike and Clark Kent brought in Starks Laces to do up a special pair of laces and lace locks. The locks read West on the left shoe and East on the right shoe. Check for these at select Nike retailers in Phoenix during All Star weekend.
