words by Nick DePaula
Next weekend marks Father’s Day, and if you’re still hung up on a gift for the old man, Jordan Brand released a special Retro 1 just for the occasion today at limited accounts. We’re not sure how many dads are licking their chops for a clear swoosh, but this White/Dark Charcoal/Tweed/Varsity Red colorway of the Jordan Retro 1 retails for $100 and incorporates a tweed pattern along the mid panel, tongue and toe, along with white overlays, black laces and red accents. At the heel, Mark Smith’s ‘POPS’ graphic that was originally showcased along the Air Jordan XX’s midfoot strap is sharply stitched. The work pail icon is a nice reference to James Jordan’s handyman mentality around the Jordan family home during Michael’s upbringing.

Mark — The tool box actually touches back to Michael’s dad who was always a handy man and working on things around the house. It also spells out “POPS.”
