The latest member of the Jordan Brand troupe is Charlotte Bobcats rookie point guard D.J. Augustin, who joins Sacramento’s Kevin Martin as the subsidiary’s latest signees. Thaddeus Foucher, Augustin’s representation confirmed the two parties had reached a deal earlier today.
Augustin averaged 19.2 points and 5.8 assist per clip last year, leading the Texas Longhorns to the Elite Eight before bowing out against Memphis. The Bobcats selected the diminutive guard with the ninth pick in the 2008 NBA Draft. Of course, as part owner of the team, Michael Jordan presumably had a hand in evaluating, drafting, and signing Augustin, so the player was obviously Jumpman material.
D.J. wore the Jordan XX2 from the latest Countdown Pack during practice in Wilmington, N.C., on Sept. 30. His teammate Gerald Wallace sports Jordan products as well, and has been seen in a special make-up of the II.
