Earlier tonight, Made To Order in north Philadelphia played host to a gathering of sneaker fans near and far, welcoming both local heads as well as visitors from New York and New Jersey who made the Friday night trek. That would include Zac and I, as we were able to finally get out of NYC around 6 pm after a full day of meetings that began with a 5:55 am alarm clock. (Verdict: That’s early) Big thanks to Justin and Phil from Made To Order (here’s their blog link this time) for hosting a great turnout, as well as Dustin and the entire UNDRCRWN crew for being in the house! Over thirty-five people came out throughout the night to enjoy music, check out the spot and of course chat it up about the great wide world of sneakers.
I’ve been to my fair share of sneaker stores and boutiques over the past couple of years, and I can calmly say that Made To Order already ranks up there with my very favorites. It’s not some overly cool over-production of a storefront built upon self-praising hype with some jerk behind a counter — it’s a spot with real people with a real passion for clothing and sneakers. The store layout is straightforward, and there’s tons of great stock on hand from the latest sneakers to streetwear tees to shorts and even denim.
Everyone in attendance was also amazingly friendly as well. It was nice to see ‘Sole Supreme’ and his NY crew make the drive down to check out the store, and I also have to give a shout out to Ed from New Jersey. Ed’s a longtime subscriber (featured in Issue 7’s Focus:Street) and he’s just a huge fan of basketball sneakers in general. It was great talking about the Lebron line and getting a sense for your love of the sneaker world. Make sure to keep me posted on how the $80,000 car customization shapes up.
I also dropped off a stack of Music Skins at the main counter, so feel free to check out the store and grab a couple. The vultures got to the AM95, Grape V and other Dave White skins real quick, but I’m feeling generous so if you want a phone or iPod skin, just shoot me an email (Nick@SoleCollector.com), specify which device you have and I’ll see what I can gather.
And now — onto the pics. Blame Zac if there’s a shot you were hoping to see, as it probably didn’t turn out good enough. (Kidding — thanks a bunch Zac for filling in for Steve with photo duties!)

Here’s the only pic of Zac from the night. He thought he was hyperkillin it.
And it wouldn’t be a night out without Sole Supreme actin a fool. (His NY crew made the drive, and it was also good seeing you guys again Jorge and Chris — hanging out for three days straight wasn’t as painful as I expected.)
Mike here is far too nice. He’ll literally run any errand or do any chore needed for anyone. It’s getting to be ridiculous and I’ve been kinda ordering him around the past few days. One day you’ll be an outstanding intern.
Here he is physically holding a parking spot for 10 minutes while his friend moves his car from a few blocks down.
“This man is a legend in Philly.” -AG
And lastly, once again, a huge thanks to Justin and Phil for generously hosting everyone and providing drinks and music. We wish you guys the very best and a fun-filled upcoming 1st Anniversary Party.
