Raf Simons Offers Options With Zip Change

words_Nick DePaula

I see what you did there Raf Simons, and I’m impressed, intrigued and excited. By incorporating a zip-off upper in their new Zip Change sneaker, the possibilities are endless, as the wearer now has the option of using the ubiquitous vulcanized sole as the framework to house a low or high cut upper of any texture or material. Initially a low and high white base leather upper will be offered, but I’d have to figure there will be a multitude of styles to choose from as upper options expand in the near future. The idea is awesome, and luckily the execution seems to be more fashion friendly than zip change pants. The zipper closes along the midfoot of the medial side, and if Raf Simons can take the idea a step further and incorporate a no seam zipper, similar to Nike’s Tech Pack jackets, they might really be onto something. As with most designer shoes, these will set back a decent bit, as they’re currently available for 499 Pounds on Oki-Ni.
