Few teams in the college ranks achieved mythical status quite like Phi Slamma Jamma, the University of Houston squad lead by Hakeem Olajuwon and Clyde Drexler known for their inventive and powerful in-game dunks. Coming soon to House Of Hoops, a special edition ‘Phi Slamma Jamma’ Big Nike will be dropping, complete with details from the team like Coach Guy Lewis’ trademark plaid sideline wear as well as icons from the nickname along the collar. You’ll even find a broken backboard along the tongue tag. We’ll be sure to keep you posted once an official release date is revealed, and in the meantime, let us know what you think of these, and what other college teams would like to see inspire a future shoe?

What a stupid shoe. When I think of Phi Slama Jama, I think of Ricky Winslow and Alvin Franklin throwing down dunks in open court. The Dream was there. Drexler was there, but the whole team was good. Those Houston teams might be the best that didn’t win the NCAA Tournament. A case could be made for the ’91 UNLV team and the ’83 Tar Heels. Back on point now, the shoe is stupid because no one thinks of Guy Lewis’ plaid jackets. Wimp Sanderson was known for that more than Lewis anyway. Furthermore, the target market for these shoes probably have never even heard of Phi Slama Jama and they have no idea how much those dudes dunked. They dunked a lot! As far as the broken backboard icon goes, where does that come from? I don’t recall the Houston guys breaking a backboard. Leave that for a Darrell Dawkins tribute. And none of the Phi Slama Jama players ever ran the court in Big Nikes either. Aimless, stupid shoe for several reasons. Of course, the target market that’s too young to really know college hoops history won’t understand the idiocy.

I am a Houstonian as well as a student of the University of Houston.
I HAVE TO HAVE THESE SHOES.
Unfortunately, in all my searches, I have not been able to find them online. Can I buy them directly from the store via phone? What would you guys suggest.
P.S.
Not being available in Houston = Bullshit.
