Nike SB Releases: February 2009

words by Steve Jaconetta

It’s February 1st so you all know what that means! Time to find out what’s in store for us from Nike SB for this month. We’ve got everything from Dunks to P-Rod’s to Blazers and much more, with all the apparel to match as well.

Lets start things off with the featured release for this month, the “Goofy Boy” Dunk Low Pro SB. We all remember the days of the early ’90s when the skate look was all about the tall tees and the huge pants. Well it looks like the trend is coming back. [Actually, it's probably not (which I think is a good thing).] Nike SB is simply paying homage to this trend, and that’s it. This shoe features traditional color blocking with purple denim over a chutney colored suede. All you Laker fans should dig this colorway also. For those like me who like to hookup their clothes with their kicks, Nike SB has a coach’s jacket, an icon crew and an icon plaid tee to match.

The icon plaid tee, the icon crew and the coach’s jacket mentioned above will come in two colors with the other meant to match the jetstream/birch colorway of the Dunk Mid Premium SB. This Dunk features a combination of suede and pebbled leather on the upper along with plaid wrapping around the back heel. Also hooking up with the two February Dunk colorways is a nice SB Plaid Fitted Cap coming in two colors. So from head-to-toe you’re all set with the hookups this month and will not have to search for things to match if you don’t want to.

Next we have another great colorway for the Blazer Low Premium SB in varsity red/black. If you are thinking of passing on these and scooping them up in the future or possibly waiting for another Blazer Low colorway, I’d suggest thinking twice before making that decision. The Blazer Low SB is going to be replaced by the Nike Bruin later this year, but don’t worry because the Blazer Mid SB will still be here. This Blazer features an all red suede upper with black crocodile print on the Swoosh and down the lace holes. The classic all white midsole/outsole completes this perfect colorway.

We then have a new P-Rod 2 in a “Easter-like” colorway. Bright pastel colors blend nicely with the light steel grey, black and white. Finishing out the footwear releases for February is a new colorway of the Zoom Tre A.D. in an old royal/black as well as a new Zoom Air Harbor in black/sunset. Also, don’t forget to keep a lookout for your usual quickstrike release(s) this month as well.

Moving onto the rest of the apparel, we have two new colors of the SB Half-Zip Fleece, three more styles of SB tees and an SB Perforated Wallet in a nice black leather with pale blue which gives a “McFly” vibe to it. Going back to the tees, we have the SB Angel Tee in both royal and black (goes perfectly with the Tre A.D. in the same colors) which looks like it came straight off a tarot card from the movie Tenacious D: In The Pick Of Destiny. The SB Shoes Tee comes in both pale blue and white/red while the NSB Tee comes in navy/red and grey heather/pale blue (which matches your “McFly” Tre A.D.’s from December).

There you have it, all the GR releases from Nike Skateboarding for the month of Febraury. As stated above keep on the lookout for your usual monthly “QS” quickstrike releases in addition to everything else releasing. For all the tech info on the footwear, click on the pictures below. As always stay tuned here and in our forums for everything Nike SB.
