Later this month, Don C and Jordan Brand are expected to launch a co-branded collection based around the Air Jordan 2. While leather goods are Don's forte, the quilted stitch pattern is a new direction for the shoe. So, how did Don come up with the idea? The answer may come as a bit of a surprise.
Yesterday, the designer shared his inspiration for the Just Don Jordan 2 on Instagram. The look was directly pulled from a women's Chanel lambskin handbag, which sells for as much as $5,000. Like the original Air Jordan 2, the bag was manufactured in Italy, adding more context to the 'Beaverton - Italy - Chicago' patch that marks the collaboration. So, we've gone from 'Quality Inspired by the Greatest Player Ever' to 'Quality Inspired by a Purse.'
The early word is that the Just Don x Air Jordan 2 will release at select retailers on Saturday, January 31.
