Vintage Ad: Jerry Stackhouse and the FILA Stack

This week's vintage ad is one of the coolest FILA ads that I've come across. Take a look at Jerry Stackhouse and The Stack basketball shoe.

Jerry Stackhouse who was the #3 pick in the 1995 NBA Draft out of the University of North Carolina wasted no time getting a signature shoe when he signed with FILA as a rookie for the 1995-1996 NBA season.  Back when FILA still had a decent stake in the NBA footwear market The Stack was one of the brand's most popular silhouettes.  One of the many players who was billed as the "next Michael Jordan" at one time or another, Stackhouse was one of the major faces for the FILA brand in the mid 90's along with Grant Hill.

In this ad from 1996 we get a look at Jerry flying over the Philadelphia skyline in his Stack Mids.  He never became the next Jordan (as nobody ever has yet) but he had a very solid NBA career as a star player with the 76ers and Pistons and later morphed into a solid role player with the Wizards and Mavs.

The Stack is one of FILA's most classic basketball shoe designs. Who would like to see a retro release?
