Under Armour continues to add talent to its team to prove that it's in the footwear business to stay.

The Baltimore Business Journal reports that the brand has hired Peter Ruppe, who spent 25 years at Nike in roles like vice president and general manager of global footwear categories and merchandising and vice president and general manager of athletic training and field sports. Ruppe isn't fresh from the Nike campus though—his tenure with the Swoosh ended in 2008.

With Under Armour, Ruppe will act as senior vice president of footwear. Under Armour is no doubt hoping that his expertise can further recent growth, which resulted in a 50 percent sales increase from $81 million in the third quarter of 2013 to $122 million in the third quarter of 2014.
