We often get our look at sneakers these days via blogs, official web sites, social media and viral promotions. But before things went digital, one of the main forms of advertising was print.

Nike rolled out a variety of unique imagery, which was found in catalogs, newspapers and magazines when it began marketing the original Air Max in 1987. Accompanying the photos of the shoes were tech specs, inspiration, and descriptions that broke down how the technology would revolutionize footwear, which it actually went on to do.

It's a far cry from the global multimedia campaigns of today, but these ads have stood the test of time, and are worth remembering even in today's high-tech world. They now offer us a look into the historic past that brought Air Max technology from a small window to a full 360-degrees.
