Random acts of violence can happen at any time and any place — even on the day before Christmas. Such was the case at in Gretna, La. where a fatal shooting happened inside the Foot Locker of the Oakwood Center mall. WWL-TV reports that 24-year old James Vaughn was killed inside of the sneaker store shortly after making a purchase. The alleged shooter, Gary M. Francois, 25, is now in custody and there's no word yet on what exactly started the altercation. Authorities believe the gunman approached Vaughn after he turned around from his transaction.
"[The victim] had turned away from the cash register and started walking away, when the perpetrator walked up to about 3 to 4 feet from him. We believe at this point in time there were three shots fired," Gretna Sheriff Newell Normand told WWL-TV. The alledged shooter could face second-degree murder charges.
