Last February, Nike Sportswear celebrated LeBron James' first NBA championship with a special 'Cork' make-up of the LeBron X EXT. The concept was inspired by the post-game tradition of popping open a bottle of champagne following victory. Since then, we've also seen cork as an option for models like the Air Force 1 and Spizike on NIKEiD.
It appears that cork is again on tap for 2015, when Nike Sportswear welcomes the 25th anniversary of the Air Max 90. Below is a look at the upcoming Anniversary edition of the model, which brings cork to the upper of the 'Infrared' colorway.
Cork hasn't proven to be the most functional sneaker material (for obvious reasons), so it'll be interesting to see if Nike has been able to develop a more practical application by the time these hit retailers. We don't have a release date at the moment, but the word is sometime early next year. Stand by for updates.
