The New Balance 996 Revlite Gets Even Lighter

A fresh take on the Revlite NB996 features a sonic weld style build.

The New Balance 996 Revlite shaves weight of the classic 996 runner by switching out the tooling on bottom.

It seems that this new version of the shoe, which is available at European retailers now, goes even further to shave off weight. The upper ditches traditional runner materials like suede and mesh, and instead wears a fusable look that is reminiscent of the "Sonic Weld" New Balances of old. Certain Revlite takes on New Balance silhouettes have crept into the collab realm, so it's possible that this version of the 996 could eventually do the same.
