The sneaker collecting lifestyle can be a very expensive one. Air Jordan Retros seem to get more expensive every few months. Performance basketball shoes are breaking $300 after tax. And pretty much all of the shoes with the hottest new technology like Nike's Flyknit or adidas' Boost are going to set you back at least $120.
