Source: Jeremy Lin Leaving Nike For Adidas

There appears to be some major news coming out of the sports marketing world today, as a report from Comcast Sportsnet Northwest claims a brand switch is in the works.
Houston Rockets G Jeremy Lin has agreed to a shoe deal with adidas, thus departing Nike, a league source informed CSNNW.com.
The source spoke on condition of anonymity due to adidas having yet to have made an official announcement on the agreement. According to the source, the announcement will come on Friday.
During the "Linsanity" era with the Knicks, Lin was shown some love by Nike via products like PE AF1s and even a custom Destroyer jacket. But ever since, things have been relatively quiet on the sneaker front.
The hype behind Lin has quieted since his NY days, but that doesn't mean he isn't putting up respectable numbers. Lin is averaging 14.1 points along with 4.2 assists per game for the 2013-14 season so far. And while he may not be a household name the way he was during that Linsanity stretch, his popularity overseas is still strong, which could potentially help adidas broaden their basketball reach.
What do you think of this brand switch? Are you surprised by it? Do you think it was a good move by Lin? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.
