Last night, the biggest stars in the NBA aligned at the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas for the 62nd Annual All-Star Game. The closely contested game was controlled by the West most of the way, though as usual, the East made it interesting in the end. When the clock ticked down to 0.0, it was the Western Conference that once again stood tall with a 143-138 victory. Los Angeles Clippers point guard Chris Paul was named MVP of the game for the first time in his career.
Paul's usual brilliance was on display as he scored 20 points, dished out 15 assists and recorded 4 steals on the night. Kevin Durant was the game's leading scorer with 30 points, making him the first player to score 30 or more in three-straight All-Star Games. Not to be forgotten was Kobe Bryant, who was mostly quiet until stealing the show with two late-game blocks on LeBron James to help seal the win.
Carmelo Anthony led the way for the Eastern Conference with a line of 26 points and 12 rebounds. Dwyane Wade chipped in with 20 points and 7 assists, while James rolled off 19, 3 and 5.
In our world, the All-Star Game is all about the new sneaker debuts, and there was plenty to see on the court Sunday night. Paul and Anthony had big games in their "Stealth" Jordan signature shoes, while Westbrook wore two different pairs of the Air Jordan XX8. Nike Basketball athletes laced up various "Area 72" models and adidas stood out with "Impact Camo." Joakim Noah hustled in his custom pro model by Le Coq Sportif; Dwyane Wade rocked a bright purple make-up of his Li-Ning sig; and Tony Parker put on for PEAK.
