Sneaker Thief Caught Shoving Nike KDs Down His Pants

This week in stupid sneaker thieves.

A serial thief in Texas was caught trying to come up on a free pair of Nike KD sneakers over the holidays.

KSAT 12 reports that on Dec. 31, Paul Perez III was arrested in San Antonio after a worker at Academy Outdoor and Sports caught Perez trying to shove a pair of Nike KD sneakers into his pants without paying and walk out the door. The worker recognized Perez from earlier thefts at the store, he has nine prior theft convictions, and was eyeing him closely.

Needless to say, the report raises questions.

Did he take the sneakers out of the box before putting them in his pants? Surely that's the only way one could get away with such a caper. The shoes are mentioned as costing "about $130," so is this a Nike KD 7 on the sales racks or an old Nike KD 6 that was still lying around? What is a man in the land of the Spurs doing supporting KD?
