Sneaker Fashion Week: Lanvin

Sneaker Fashion week concludes with Lanvin.

words // Zac Dubasik

When it comes to footwear produced by the high-end fashion houses, Lanvin were probably the first to connect with the sneaker world. And that shouldn’t be a surprise when you take into account that their 1889 founding makes them France’s longest running fashion house, still in production – they’ve obviously been doing many things right.

Under the creative direction of Lucas Ossendrijver, Lanvin’s men’s sneaker line has thrived. Their cap-toped model, for both men and women, became an instant classic. The First Lady, Michelle Obama, even created some controversy around the model, after being spotted wearing a pair, and criticized for their high price.

Many of the usual suspects, like Jay-Z and Usher, have been longtime fans of the brand. And Kanye West’s love of their sneakers even played a role in influencing the design of the original Air Yeezy, who’s collar “borrowed” the shape and padding from one of Lanvin’s mid-top models, which can be seen below.
