Sneaker crime just got a little weirder this week, as a Malaysian man was arrested for allegedly stealing sneakers from a mosque in Kuala Lumpur.

The suspect, a 38-year-old IT specialist, was caught by a security guard and later found with 13 pairs of shoes in his trunk. It's evident that he wasn't taking them for himself either – the shoes range in size from 7 to 12 and the suspect is a size 8. This has led police to believe the man might have a shoe fetish.

The shoes have been seized, but for a while there he had a decent haul, including some recent Nike Roshe Runs and a couple New Balance releases.

This bizarre sneaker crime saga might not be over yet, according to local authorities.

"We don’t know if he hid more stolen shoes elsewhere," said the police chief who arrested the suspect.
