It's safe to say that nobody expected the Rick Owens x adidas collaboration to result in a couple of performance runners.
And yet, in late 2014, a preview showed up that promised that the designer would give the world his take on this most visually striking of modern adidas runners, the adidas Springblade. The two pairs keep things in line with the stark black and white palette that's been Owens' standard, and they also introduce more traditional runner materials to the model. Previous high-end adidas releases like this have carried disclaimers about not being actual performance footwear, and it will be interesting to see if this one does the same given the model.
