This past weekend marked a release that will forever be remembered by sneaker collectors all over the world. Easily one of the most hyped footwear releases of all time, the "Galaxy" collection by Nike drew a response bigger than anyone could have ever expected.

The hype was particularly driven by the limited release of the "Galaxy" Air Foamposite One, which caused riots at shopping malls across the country and even forced several House of Hoops locations to cancel their All-Star footwear releases for the weekend. The insanity drove many collectors to their limit, with some pairs of the Space Exploration inspired Foamposite One reselling for as much as $1,500.

Although many collectors were unsuccessful in their attempts to acquire the Foamposite One, many of them settled for other styles released as part of the "Galaxy" All-Star Collection. Several of our SC forum members were lucky enough to get their hands on the classic Air Flight One, which also released in a "Galaxy" colorway featuring glow in the dark detailing. Nike Basketball's All-Star footwear was also just as coveted, with the "Galaxy" Kobe VII, KD IV and LeBron 9 flying off shelves nationwide.

While most SC Forum members did get their hands on at least one shoe from the "Galaxy" collection, the overall release was still not as successful as everyone had hoped. Campers were left empty-handed thanks to cancelled releases, while others were just picking up kicks strictly for reselling purposes.

Tried your luck at getting any of the "Galaxy" releases? If so, were you successful in getting the styles you had on your list? Looking back, would you have done anything different in your chase to get these kicks?
