Poll // Could MJ Have Beaten LeBron In His Prime?
words // Zac Dubasik
Leading in to this week's release of NBA 2K14, Michael Jordan sat down an interview where he discussed a long list of players he'd like to play in one-on-one. In classic MJ style, he offered Kobe the backhanded compliment of saying "I don't think I would lose, other than to Kobe Bryant, because he steals all of my moves."
Drawing the most attention and debate though was his assertion that he would beat LeBron James. What are your thoughts? Could a prime-era Michael Jordan beat LeBron James in his prime? Vote in our poll, and let us know your thoughts in the comments. Tell us why you think one would beat the other.
and obviously now LeBron.
LeBron wins. too fast, too big, too strong, too skilled.
after all is said and done he COULD be the GOAT. he is that good and blessed with a genetic freak. he is basically a karl malone point guard.
anyone who says MJ wins is just being blinded and not a basketball fan.
You have to see him play. The rest are just pretenders.
my Aunty Lyla recently got an awesome gold Chevrolet Corvette Stingray Coupe only from working parttime off a laptop. get redirected here....>>>.. www.Fb47.com
sorry youngster, but did you just say lebron has no post game? did you not watch him dominate paul george in the low block against the pacers in the playoffs? he has amazing footwork, balance, and he faked the crap out of george and hibbert. he scored the gamewinner on a LEFTY layup later, after MJ said he cant go left (the same MJ that drafted kwame brown, and signed al jefferson the year before the greatest draft in years with wiggins, jabari, harrison).
not to mention lebron is a more efficient 3 point shooter statistically, better low post game, stronger, can play proper point forward, more skilled playmaker, and he made mike brown coach of the year, and took a cavaliers team with LARRY HUGHES as their 2nd best player to the finals. he also beat the best team in the NBA (spurs) averaging mind blowing numbers, with an injured D wade, and a useless bosh who couldnt rebound against duncan, splitter.
rodman and pippen were ALWAYS efficient and jordan needed them. bosh is unpredictable, and wade has been injured the last 2 years.
not to mention the size advantage and height advantage that lebron possesses against a guy like MJ. im sorry if he was your childhood hero, but dont be blinded by your cognitive dissonance. You cant stop a train, even if you try to stand on its track.
Cut it out dude, I don't know whether to smh, or lmao at that long ass post that is just wrong. I like Lebron he will go down as one of the greats, but his skill level is no where near MJ's. Lebrons jumper is still inconsistent at best, his free throw shooting sucks (especially in crunch time) and his decision making in big games has been horrible for years. Lets just be honest , the majority of the teams that MJ and the bulls beat in the 90's to get those 6 rings would have swept Lebron and the heat. No way Lebron would be able to beat those Jazz teams or the '93 Phoenix suns. People are quick to say he had Pippen and Rodman, but fail to point out Rodman was only around for the final 3 rings. Before that they won with Horace Grant and no real center. Do you really believe if you replaced Lebron with MJ on that Cavs team that faced the spurs in the finals he would have allowed them to be mercilessly swept? Hell no! Do you think that MJ on that same heat team would have let that old ass mavericks squad beat them in the finals? No fucking way that happens. Sorry but Lebron just isn't any where near Mike. I could sit hear and go on about how Mikes post game was so much superior, how he would punish Lebron with that unstoppable fade away. Or how MJ in his prime would take LBJ off the dribble every single time. I don't think it's necessary though. I will say this though, the one thing that Lebron lacks and is why he will never be able to be seriously mentioned with the GOAT and that's a killer instinct. Mike showed no mercy and would happily kick his opponent when they were down. Mike knew how to put a team away and had ice in his veins. Lets not forget, if it wasn't for Sugar Ray, the Heat were about to get sent home without a ring again for the 2nd time in three years.
"Sneaker heads" are dumb..
Let's not slight Kobe here - Lebron needs 4 more rings to surpass him before we should even consider putting "King James" in the same discussion as Michael Jordan.
Here's one of the best reads ever for why you can't debate Mike as the GOAT. 90's Bulls and their Competition
lebron and jordan by far had it harder than kobe. kobe had a father who made it, and was in the NBA and made serious bank. lebron didnt even HAVE a father, and jordan grew up in the slums of brooklyn.
rings are a team effort by the way. i can judge players by MVP's i consider iverson as one of the greatest little men in the NBA because of his perseverance, his MVP title and pure dominance on the floor. i would take him over kobe. is robert horry the 2nd greatest NBA player of all time because he has 7 rings? does that give him an edge AT ALL over jordan? i dont think so. "King James" is clearly in the discussion for GOAT. 4 MVP's and a scoring title, even though he has always been a magic johnson type facilitator his whole career. barkley, stockton, malone, ewing are all hall of famers and they never had a ring. you cant discredit a player for not having enough rings. thats so unfair. if iverson had the same oppurtunities to play with shaq, he would have beat the 2004 pistons easy.
im not saying lebron is anywhere near GOAT, but he should definitely start to be in the discussion. youngest EVER to 20,000 points and 4 MVP's in 5 years, and a possible 3 peat this year is enough credibility
