Back in February, the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame announced that Nike Chairman and Co-Founder Phil Knight would be inducted with the 2012 class as a contributor to the game. Following up on that story, the new inductees' presenters were officially named today, and Mr. Knight will be making his way to the podium next to a couple of basketball icons.
Presenting Phil as a member of the 2012 class will be Hall of Famers Michael Jordan ('09) and Coach John Thompson ('99). MJ is an obvious choice due to the friendship and business relationship he's shared with Phil for nearly 30 years. Coach Thompson is also a longtime friend of Mr. Knight and has been a Nike Board Member since 1991.
The 2012 Enshrinement Ceremony will be presented by Nike Basketball next Friday, September 7 at Springfield Symphony Hall. Visit hoophall.com for a full list of inductees and presenters.
