As a participant in the 2011 NBA Slam Dunk Contest, Washington Wizards forward JaVale McGee debuted five different colorways of the PEAK relentless shoe. Though McGee didn't win the contest, his run marked some of the first national coverage for the PEAK brand in the United States, as the cameras panned in on his feet with each colorway change. This year, PEAK is introducing a new JaVale McGee shoe and here's a detailed look.
Decked out in the Wizards' new navy, white and red colors, the mid-cut shoe features a navy blue cracked synthetic leather upper with varying perforations on the side panels. Faux croc overlays wrap around both the toebox and heel. Hits of red appear on areas like the tongue, upper eyelets, heel and pull-tab. Also on the pull-tab are the numbers "11-12-12," JaVale's points, rebounds and blocks from his first career triple-double against the Chicago Bulls back on March 15th. McGee's military-inspired "34" logo appears on the tongue, while PEAK branding adorns the lateral and medial sides of the shoe in white. A red speckle print appears on a navy blue midsole, which sits atop a translucent rubber outsole. Technology includes Cushion-3 cushioning and a FootHold stability plate.
No word on the availability of the new McGee shoe yet, but its safe to assume they'll only be available overseas.
