Only five days ago, Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim ace Jered Weaver pitched his first career no-hitter against the Minnesota Twins. The former Long Beach State Dirtbag put the team on his back, tallying nine strikeouts while facing two over the minimum, helping the slumping Angels get back on the right track with a 9-0 victory.
Tonight, Weaver faces the Twins lineup once again with a chance, albeit unlikely, to become only the second pitcher in MLB history to throw consecutive no-hitters (Cincinnati's Johnny Vander Meer remains the only pitcher to accomplish the feat, way back in 1938). Like he has done in every start since 2009, and every inning during his no-hitter, Weaver will carve "NA" into the dirt behind the mound before he takes the bump, a tribute to late Angels pitcher Nick Adenhart.
Weaver will wear the "Away" version of his Nike Air Show Elite 2 Player Exclusive cleats, featuring a Black / Stealth / Varsity Red colorway. The customization on the cleats is subtle, with a molded black pitching toe on the right shoe and Weaver's number "36" on the tongue and outsole.
