The Nike Air Rift was already one of the weirdest sneakers (if one can call it a sneaker) in Nike's range.
The model is going even more bizarro with this new NikeLab Free Rift Sandal design, which introduces a Free kit to the bottom of the shoe. This isn't just a random porting of the Free tech either – the Rift is part of Free's lineage as an early model that strived to achieve a similar level of natural motion. The NikeLab Free Rift Sandal was originally designed for volleyball athletes, but will be making the transition into a more casual category with this upcoming release.
The NikeLab Free Rift Sandal will launch online and at select global NikeLab retailers on May 7, with a North America launch to follow on May 28.
