Nike Unveils New Seattle Seahawks Football Uniforms
words // Brandon Richard
If you're searching for the Oregon Ducks' NFL Nike uniform equivalent, look no further than the Seattle Seahawks. Not only does proximity favor the birds, but their Steel Blue/Dark Navy/Neon Green/White team color scheme falls right in line with what Nike likes to do. Today, as part of Nike's official 2012 uniform and apparel launch, the Seahawks have unveiled their newly designed uniforms.
Seattle will wear three different jerseys, including a new Wolf Grey alternate. Neon Green is splashed throughout the design more than ever. The chest graphic broadens the shoulders and represents the fiercely confident stance of a Thunderbird totem pole. To honor the team, the Seahawks name is stitched above the heart. With all of the different jersey and pant colorways, there are nine different Seahawks uniform combinations that will be worn during the upcoming season.
Lighter Nike performance uniforms feature a shrink-wrap fit that ensures opponents are left grabbing air. Hydrophobic material used for the new jersey is water repellant.
Also appearing on the new unis is a feather graphic pattern, inspired by NW Native American art. Rows of 12 feathers on the pants and collar are a tribute to Seahawks fans, also known as the "12th Man." Additional Native American inspiration comes in the form of a formed-sleeve graphic.
The evolution of the Seahawks helmet features a bigger, bolder Seahawks logo, as well as a switch from Pacific Blue to a deeper, richer Navy. A first-of-its-kind matte and gloss combination was used for the helmet's finish.
