One of the more overlooked details in the frenzy of last week's Nike MAG day was the mention by Nike that it was testing self-lacing sneakers across several sports in an attempt to make the tech a reality beyond special edition releases.
Last week, in a speech given to NBA owners, Nike CEO Mark Parker further fueled anticipations by mentioning that self-lacing shoes will come to the market in a major way. The talk was private, so Parker's exact words are unavailable, but an anonymous source spoke with Bloomberg about his remarks.
In addition to mentioning self-lacing shoes, Parker discussed the future of the partnership between Nike and the NBA. He said Nike is working on high tech apparel that will control body temperature via embedded sensors and computers.
