Kyrie Irving has an average dribbling speed of 21 miles per hour – almost twice as fast as the dribble of an average NBA player. He can create four g's of acceleration with his mean crossover. He can decelerate from 13 miles per hour to zero in about .2 seconds. In other words, he needs a shoe that can respond to his physics-bending moves on the court. Nike's given him just that in the new Nike Kyrie 2.

The sneaker, officially unveiled today, has a first-of-its-kind curved sole, Zoom Air to aid quick transitions, a strap to keep the heel in place and an overall design informed by Sir Isaac Newton.

The shoe was designed by Leo Chang, who was there with Kyrie on his first signature Nike model as well.

The Nike Kyrie 2 is available now on NIKEiD. The Nike Kyrie 2 "Effect" colorway will release on Dec. 15, followed by the "Inferno" colorway seen here on Jan. 1.
