Nike Free Flyknit - Official Images
words // Brennan Hiro Williams
After giving you a first look earlier today, Nike presents official images of the new Free Flyknit, the first-time pairing of two of Nike's most popular technologies. Runners can now reap the benefits of natural motion and second-skin fit in a single shoe.
Informed by Nike's "Nature Amplified" design ethos, the Free Flyknit features a new, more compressive Flyknit upper designed to better secure the runners foot to the platform. Nike Sports Research Lab scientists employed pressure-mapping technology to locate key stress areas, creating data that the designers used to develop the shoe's unique zoned performance pattern upper. This process enables natural flex on top of the foot and improved support around the perimeter. A Nike Free 5.0 midsole sits below, providing mid-range cushioning and a natural ride.
In regards to sustainability, the use of Flyknit construction reduces Nike's typical upper waste by 88 percent.
The Nike Free Flyknit ($160) launches globally on August 1, and is available for pre-order now at nike.com/freeflyknit.
