Nike Flyknit fans will often take to the washing machine to clean their sneakers. The approach has been endorsed by posters on message boards for a while now, but that doesn't mean it can't go wrong.
Reddit user faboze found that out the hard way, showing off the unfortunate result of their attempt to clean a pair of Nike Flyknit Racers in the washing machine in this thread. The user says their mother left the shoes in the wash for an extra hour, which is probably how they ended up with the folded shape shown. As one user points out, the ruined pair's curvature is almost like that of some of the Nike Free Flyknit stuff.
Anyone feeling wary about this approach to sneaker cleaning can always go the traditional route of scrubbing their footwear down with a toothbrush.
