Nike unveiled a new Flyknit track spike today, to be worn in competition by USA 10,000 meter distance runner Dathan Ritzenhein.
The Flyknit track spike shares the same upper as the new Flyknit Racer, combined with a Flashlon foam midsole, engineered Pebax plate and sharkskin heel pad all tailored for track performance. The Flyknit track spike weighs in at only 3.9 ounces.
Consistent with the other Flyknit products, the Flyknit track spike also improves on environmental sustainability practices by using fewer materials and cuts, reducing waste in the manufacturing process.
“Combining ultra lightweight engineering of Nike Flyknit technology with the performance innovation of our track spikes creates a unique running proposition," said Martin Lotti, Nike Global Creative Director. “Nike Flyknit is a breakthrough innovation for the design and development of running shoes and we’re excited to be able to deliver this innovation for elite track athletes.”
Look for the Nike Flyknit track spike this Saturday during the Men's 10,000m Final.
