Celebrating the original release of the Air Max 1 on March 26, 1987, Nike has declared March 26th "Air Max Day" and will release a special edition of the Air Max 1 commemorating the shoe's birth.

The Air Max Day Air Max 1 features the iconic runner's original white and red colorway, but with a modern twist: a Volt midsole. A special "3.26" tongue label marks the shoe's birthday.

Nike reports that the limited quickstrike release of the Air Max Day Air Max 1 will be available at Nike.com and select Nike Sportswear retailers globally "beginning in March", so keep an eye out for them to drop soon.  What are your thoughts on this special commemorative Air Max 1?  Do you like the addition of the Volt midsole, or would you rather have seen the shoe in an exact-to-the-original construction?
