The silver lining in the current NBA lockout has been the seemingly endless amount of all-star charity games hosted by pro ballers across the country over the last five months. With the league still on hiatus, perhaps the most famous basketball fan in the world will be hosting a star-studded game of his own next month.
To support his campaign's Victory Fund, President Barack Obama will play host to the first Obama Classic Basketball Game at a venue to be named in Washington, DC on December 12th. A large list of confirmed participants includes Ray Allen, Carmelo Anthony, Chris Bosh, Vince Carter, Kevin Durant, Rudy Gay, Blake Griffin, Dwight Howard, Kevin Love, Chris Paul, Amar'e Stoudemire, John Wall, Russell Westbrook and many more.
Ticket prices for the game range from $100 to $5,000. According to a disclaimer posted on the event page, the first $5,000 of a contribution to the Obama Victory Fund 2012 will be allocated to Obama for America (with the first $2,500 designated for the primary election, and the next $2,500 for the general). The next $30,800 of a contribution will be allocated to the Democratic National Committee.
According to a report from the Huffington Post, President Obama's presence at the event or participation is not confirmed at the moment.
