The New Balance 1300 "Steel Blue" is one of the most recognizable sneakers in NB's retro catalog.
The shoe is so much a flagship model that its palette is often borrowed by other pairs looking to cash in on a reference. Ronnie Fieg did this pretty successfully with his New Balance 999 "Steel Blue" collaboration, and a handful of inline versions have done the same.
One pair that has never done that though is the New Balance MT580. Shown here is a strange sample imagining what such a shoe would look like. The separation towards the toebox makes them seem a little suspect, but the source is calling it a sample that never made it to retail. Until it makes it, NB fanatics will just have to dream of a "Steel Blue" New Balance MT580.
