A moment first predicted in 1989's Back to the Future Part II, Michael J. Fox and Nike have officially unveiled auto-lacing Nike Mag sneakers.
Following Fox's initial experience with the functional sneakers, he took the Mag national on tonight's episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live. Arriving as Marty McFly, Fox pulled up to the stage as a passenger in a DeLorean driven by Christopher Lloyd in full Doc Brown garb. He first laced up the Nike Bruin that was also featured in the movie, before interviewing as himself in the Mag — even demonstrating the technology for the audience.
The appearance was the culmination of Back to the Future Day, marking the exact date Marty and Doc traveled forward to 2015 in the sequel. Fox's Nike Mags precede a larger run that will be auctioned off for Parkinson's research in 2016.
