While major sportswear companies like Nike and adidas still seem wary of the smart sneaker category, certain tech companies are very much interested in making smart sneakers a reality.

Chinese computer company Lenovo is the latest to enter the smart sneaker realm with the bizarre creation seen in the video above. The sneaker made its debut this week at the Lenovo Tech World conference on the feet of the company's chief technology officer George He.

In the video, the shoe shows off its strange capability of displaying the wearer's emotions on the sneaker as a screen on the sides switches from displaying a heart to a smiley face.

It's not clear what other capabilities the sneakers have, but they're going to need to do more than display emoji on them to convince sneakerheads to buy them over the latest pair of retros.
