Madison Square Garden always provides the perfect platform for sneaker debuts, a tradition that was upheld in Sunday's meeting between the Miami Heat and New York Knicks. Carmelo Anthony laced up the "Syracuse" colorway of the Jordan Melo M9, while Dwyane Wade broke out a new glow-in-the-dark version his Way of Wade Li-Ning sig. For LeBron James, the eye-catching "Carmex" Nike LeBron X iD he first gave us a look at on Facebook last week.
Inspired by the healing lip balm LeBron endorses, the "Carmex" X features a bright yellow upper with red detailing on the tongue, laces, inner lining and Swoosh branding. Black handles the Dynamic Flywire and Swoosh border. "Carmex" is printed along the medial collars, while a white sole offers contrast below.
Unfortunately, the "Carmex" Xs only made it through one half of the game. LeBron switched into an Anthracite/Red colorway for the second half and played much better ball in that pair. Any reasoning would be pure speculation on our end, but it should be pointed out that the "Carmex" colorway bears the standard flat Swoosh, while the Anthracite/Red pair featured the Nike+ enabled jewelled Swoosh.
A second half surge led by LeBron helped the Heat pull off a comeback victory against the Knicks. James put up a line of 29 points, 11 rebounds and 7 assists.
