With the best season of his playing career now behind him, LeBron James arrived in Beijing on Tuesday to kick off a four-day tour of China with Nike. This marks LeBron's seventh visit to China, which will include a stop in Shanghai. The tour is part of the Nike "Find Your Greatness" campaign this summer.
"Greatness is defined by how much you want to put into what you do," LeBron said. "Greatness comes with victory, [but] it also comes with being able to come back from adversity."
LeBron's first stop was Chaoyang Stadium, where he greeted more than 1,800 fans on hand to welcome their hoops hero. James coached a game between the northern territory's U19 and U22 champions from the Nike Summer Tournament and participated in a Nike+ training contest with the crowd. Afterward, LeBron sent approximately 100 players from various sports to attend the Nike Festival of Sports 2.0 that begins in Shanghai on Thursday.
Yesterday, LeBron hosted basketball clinics for more than 60 players from Beijing Technology University. He practiced with the players and encouraged them to pursue their dreams.
"Have your dream and keep working to make the dream into reality," he said. "You have to believe in yourself, in what you want to do, and then have the people around you -- mentors, teachers, coaches and parents -- also believe in you as well."
The Beijing leg was concluded with a trip to Nike Beijing, home to a LeBron Kicks Lounge. Hundreds of fans waited outside and showered the King with chants of "MVP."
"Thank you for the great reception," he said. "There's so much excitement for the game of basketball and myself. Hopefully I can continue to inspire you guys."
Now, LeBron is on his way to Shanghai to kick off the Nike Festival of Sports 2.0, a four-day event that gives young athletes a chance to see and play a variety of sports and catch a glimpse of their heroes. Stick with us for Festival of Sports updates.
