The new Nike Kobe X is again the product of the powerful Nike athlete/designer combo of Kobe Bryant and Eric Avar.
Capturing some of what went into the design process is the below clip from Sports Illustrated, which features the two talking about specific choices on traction, cushioning, and more. On display again is the Kobe X '5 AM Flight' colorway, the first release for Kobe's tenth sig and the one that Nike will be focusing on until next week's 'All Star' version arrives. The Nike Kobe X '5 AM Flight', release date Feb. 7, is inspired by a massive diving board leap that Kobe took while recovering from surgery on his Achilles.
